On Tuesday morning, August 9, 2016, Sadie Alice Simmons, age 95, a good and faithful servant, gently took flight from her earthly home in Saxe, Va., to rest in the arms of Jesus Christ.

She was born on September 16, 1920 to the late John Robert Simmons and Elenor Pearl Alexander Simmons in Boydton, Va. Sadie was a homemaker and although she had no children of her own, she enjoyed helping her family and raised several generations of children of her brothers, nieces, and nephews.

Sadie was preceded in death brothers, Alfonso Coleman, Willie and Richard E. Simmons and Wilbur Tucker; two sisters, Annie Simmons and Virginia Simmons Venable. She leaves to cherish her memory, one sister-in-law, Jennie M. Simmons; nieces and nephews of the home, Doris Hill, Shawleace Hill and George Johnson; host of other nieces, nephews and relatives. Special devoted friends, Violet Moseley and Renautta Brogdon.

Funeral Services were held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the Galilee Baptist Church in Randolph, Va., with interment in the church cemetery. Service of Comfort was provided by Dupee’s Funeral Home of Drakes Branch. Online condolences may expressed at www.dupeefuneralhome.com
