Nominations for Farm Service Agency’s County Committee elections will end Monday, according to a press release from the agency.

“The Charlotte County FSA office will be accepting nominations for candidates to be placed on the election ballot to represent Local Administrative Area (LAA) 1 and 2. Theses LAAs include all of Charlotte County; LAA 1 being the northern half of the county and LAA 2 being the southern half of the county,” stated the release.

Eligible nominees must participate or cooperate in FSA program(s), be of legal voting age, and reside in the LAA in which the person is a candidate. Individuals may nominate themselves or others to serve on the county committee. Organizations representing socially disadvantaged minorities and women farmers may also nominate candidates.

“Nomination forms (FSA-669A) can be obtained at the Charlotte/Lunenburg County FSA office or online at www.fsa.usda.gov/elections. To be valid, the nomination form must be signed by the person being nominated, indicating agreement to serve if elected. The completed nomination form must be returned to the Charlotte/Lunenburg County FSA office by the close of business Monday, or postmarked by midnight Monday. County committee members are a critical component of the operations of FSA. They help deliver FSA farm programs at the local level. Farmers who serve on county committees help with the decisions necessary to administer the programs in their counties. They work to make FSA agricultural programs serve the needs of local producers.”
