State law requires all sixth-grade students to have a Tdap vaccination prior to the start of the school year. Vaccinations are available free at the Charlotte County Health Department every Monday from 8:30-11 a.m., according to a press release from Central Middle School.
The Charlotte County Health Department will also offer free Tdap shots for rising sixth-graders on Aug. 3 from 1-6 p.m. Parents will need to bring insurance information and fill out the required forms.
“Parents are strongly encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities to get Tdap shots for rising sixth-graders as these shots are required for school entrance,” stated the release. “If rising sixth-grade students have already gotten the shot and have proper documentation from a health care provider, it needs to be submitted to Central Middle School as soon as possible.
Documentation may be submitted any weekday between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Contact Central Middle School at (434) 542-4536 for more information.
