Badeaux’s Cajun Kitchen will host its annual motorcycle and car show to benefit the Special Olympics on Saturday, June 25, at 2 p.m.

“The proceeds go to the local Charlotte County chapter of Special Olympics,” said Badeaux’s owner Jason Badeaux.

“We would love to invite all the local car and motorcycle clubs to come and show off their rides. We appreciate the other local businesses and people who donate their time, money and come out to the event. The children love it.”

The event will include door prizes and 50/50 raffles, as well as trophies awarded to the best bikes.

An entry fee of $10 per vehicle will be accepted and there will be reserved parking for clubs.

“We are pleased to pair up with Badeaux’s and the local bikers so that we can show everyone our fun side,” said Joanne Catron, a local Special Olympics coordinator and coach. “Bikers often have a tough exterior, but they have a heart of gold and love to share their passion for giving to others.”

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide an outlet for sports training and competitions for those with intellectual disabilities.

“Athletes from Charlotte County Special Olympics show their tough side by the way they train (and) compete all year long,” Catron said. “This event brings two groups together and adds the great food of Badeaux’s to cook up an experience full of fun, laughter and the roar of a motorcycle.”

The letter stated donations are currently being accepted to aid the organization. Donations are being sought in the form of supplies, such as soccer cleats, soccer balls, basketballs, stop watches, sturdy tape measures and bocce sets in addition to monetary donations.

“For every inspiring Special Olympics athlete in Virginia there are more people waiting for their chance, and so many more around the world. Locally, Charlotte County has approximately 40 athletes at various levels. We host two events (soccer/bocce and basketball) and attend area events for swimming and track/field. In addition, delegations attend regional and state events for soccer/bocce, swimming, basketball and track and field.
