Doris Newcomb Burnett, age 66, of Brookneal, died May 15, 2016. She was a retired registered nurse and a member of Hebron United Methodist Church. Surviving is her companion, Ronnie Childress of Brookneal, brothers, Alvin Newcomb and wife, Ivy, Melvin Newcomb and wife, Tracey, all of Saxe, nephews, Anthony Newcomb of Skipwith and Kevin Newcomb of Rock Hill, S.C. and a niece Candace Leonard of Henrico. Funeral services were held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Hebron United Methodist Church with Rev. Justin Hicks officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund. Wood Funeral Service, Chase City, is serving the family.
