A 49-year old Drakes Branch woman has been indicted on charges stemming from several residential breaking and enterings reported in southern Prince Edward County.
Charlene Read was indicted on 10 felony charges in Prince Edward Circuit Court last week in connection to the incidents, reported in mid-October.
Read was arrested and charged months ago, according to Maj. David Wilmoth of the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office. Wilmoth said that the suspect faces five breaking and entering charges and four grand larceny charges in connection to the reported incidents, which occurred in mid-October.
The suspect allegedly stole jewelry, gaming systems, including an iPad and an air rifle from the homes, Wilmoth said.
Read is also facing numerous charges in connection to multiple reported break-ins in Keysville, Eureka and Ontario, according to a release from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. Some of the items have been recovered, the release stated.
Read has a trial date set for June 30 in Prince Edward. “She had sold some of the stuff to people around town in Farmville and maybe out toward Charlotte County,” Wilmoth said.
He asked that anyone who may have purchased items from Read to contact the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office at (434) 542-5141.
