Southside Virginia Herb Society offers $500 scholarship

High school seniors who will be graduating in the spring from Charlotte, Halifax, Lunenburg and Mecklenburg counties and who plan to attend college are eligible to apply for the Southside Virginia Herb Society scholarship.

To be eligible, a 500-word typed essay explaining the role that plants or the study of plants/agriculture have played in your life or your career goals must be included. The Herb Society sponsors this essay contest to inspire our leaders of tomorrow to think about creating a kinder, greener, more harmonious relationship with Mother Earth.

Please submit the essay, proof of college enrollment and a separate piece of paper with your name, address, phone number, high school and GPA to: Southside Virginia Herb Society, c/o Cheryl Jerome. 633 Legrande Ave., Charlotte Court House, Va.  23923. 

To be considered for the scholarship your application must arrive by May 1.

The Southside Virginia Herb Society is a group of local enthusiasts interested in learning and sharing knowledge of gardening, crafting and cooking with herbs. Members come from Halifax, Mecklenburg, Lunenburg and Charlotte Counties. They meet on the third Saturday of the month.
