R-H baseball wins two more

The Randolph-Henry High School varsity baseball team ran its record to 7-1 with two wins last week. The Statesmen defeated Prince Edward by a score of 18-4 and took out Buckingham 6-0 to end the week. 

The Statesmen would score at least one run in each inning in their game against Prince Edward. At the plate, the Statesmen recorded 18 hits with Grayson Crawford, Joe Reed and Carter Strickland leading the way. 

On the mound, the Statesmen got three strong innings from Raleigh Duffer and two innings from Taylor Mann. Duffer picked up his second win of the season.

On Thursday, the Statesmen welcomed Buckingham to Bankston Field. The Statesmen jumped on the Knights for two runs in the first inning and then did not score again until the bottom of the sixth inning. Offensively, the Statesmen were led by Russell Schmidt, Josh Jones and Cameron Vassar. They each had multiple hits on the night. 

On the mound, the Statesmen got another great performance from Vassar and Strickland. The two combined for 19 strikeouts.

The Statesmen will travel to Central on Thursday at 5 p.m.
