A two-year-old died Tuesday after being found in a small fishpond in Abilene.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, the 911 call came in at about 8:37 a.m. The caller told the dispatcher that the child was discovered in a goldfish pond.

When law enforcement arrived on scene, the mother of the child was attempting CPR. She told police that said she had been for administering CPR for about 15 minutes.  

The juvenile was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital in Farmville and flown to VCU Medical Center where he died.
