Dabney T.P. Gilliam joins The Bank of Charlotte County

Bobby A. Howard, president and CEO of The Bank of Charlotte County, announced recently that Dabney T.P. “Dexter” Gilliam, Jr. has joined the bank and holding company as executive vice president & chief administrative officer effective April 1. He recently retired from American National Bank in Danville.

Gilliam is a 1976 graduate of Virginia Military Institute with a bachelor of science degree and is a retired colonel in the U.S. Army and the Virginia Army National Guard with 28 years of service.

He has over 30 years of banking experience and was formerly associated with Central Fidelity Bank before joining American National Bank in Danville as one of its senior officers. 

He is also a graduate of the Virginia Bankers Association School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia. Gilliam is very involved in civic activities and currently serves on the Sentara-Halifax Regional Health System Board of Directors and is chairman of the Halifax County Service Authority.

Howard also announced his plans to retire on June 30, at which time Gilliam will be elected as president, CEO and a member of the boards of the bank and holding companies.

“I look forward to retirement and I will miss being a part of the bank,” said Howard. “I will miss both the customers and the bank alike very much. I will, however, remain as chairman of the bank and holding company boards. Dexter Gilliam has impressive credentials and we believe he will be a good fit for our organization and staff. We are fortunate to secure the services of Dexter and look forward to a long association and much success in the future.” 

Gilliam resides in the town of Halifax with his wife, Sevanne.
