A 2003 Ford Taurus was totaled after striking a large fallen tree in the Phenix area on March 28. According to Virginia State Police, Norma Jean Mann, 72, of Brookneal, was traveling west on Patrick Henry Highway when she reportedly was blinded by the sun and struck a tree. There were no injuries reported in the incident and no charges were filed, police said.
