On Sunday, Mt. Tirzah Baptist Church will begin revival services and feature Christian drama reenactor Doug Whitley of Greenville, S.C.
According to church pastor Charles Mannin, Whitley portrays famous past religious figures while dressed in period clothing.
He said some of the characters Whitley is famous for reenacting include Charles Spurgeon, D.L. Moody and George Meuller.
According to his website, Whitley first participated in Christian drama when he was in high school. During that time, he traveled with a Christian drama team for three years.
“I enjoy history,” said Whitley. He said he is looking forward to coming to Charlotte Court House and learning about the deep history in the town.
“Doug began his present ministry in August of 1990 after breaking his arms while wiring a friend’s barn,” states his website. “It was during this time that God strengthened his faith to begin this full-time drama ministry. Doug, his wife Cheri, their sons, Doug III and Charles, and their daughter, Blythe Eryn, travel together trusting the Lord to meet their needs.”
Mannin said Whitley will be present each night at revival services to portray a different character.
Revival service at Mt. Tirzah will begin be held from Sunday-Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. nightly.
