Be careful with donating to charities

Dear Editor,

You probably get a lot of attention from worthy causes wanting your money. Did you know that Wounded Warriors just fired two top people for wasting money, according to CBS, and the vets only get 20 percent of the money dated?

Some charities are pure fraud and may are wasteful.

Much info can be found on their IRS 990 form.

If the CEO makes $500,000, that is a clue. If they don’t readily provide the 990, that is a clue. One state police charity spends 90 percent on raising funds.

I have never had a charity volunteer or the CEO pay the 990 or the percent spent on the cause.
