On Thursday, Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Crafton’s Gate Highway and Kings Highway.

According to state police, a 2003 Chevrolet car, driven by Hilda Reese, of Skipwith, was heading south when she attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of Kings Highway to travel on Highway 47 South.

Reese’s vehicle was struck by a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pulling a trailer with horses, driven by Bobby Allen of Dillwyn, according to state police.

Authorities said no injuries were reported. Reese was charged with failure to yield the right of way.

Virginia State Trooper J.D. Gregory was the investigating officer in the incident.

As the intersection continues to be problematic for drivers, a new committee in Charlotte has been formed to study the area.

The committee will study and suggest action for the intersection. The first meeting is set for Tuesday.
