Wrapping up this year’s session

This session flew by faster than in the past.
I was focused on major legislation and my role as a leader on the budget which kept me from looking at the calendar; sometimes even forgetting what day of the week it was.
I sponsored legislation that would allow our localities to hire, on a part-time basis, non-teachers to help our young people better prepare for skilled jobs in the future.
This can be very effective using retirees or employees of companies that want to develop young people with the skills needed for their business.
A proposal that I had had drafted was the model for the legislation that passed, creating a research pool in which our research universities could compete.
