Seven Fuqua School students participated in this year’s District III All-District Honor Bands, including Stone Tucker, of Drakes Branch.
Students auditioned for and earned positions in one of three groups, rehearsing with guest conductors Friday and Saturday and performing the afternoon of Saturday, Feb. 6. Middle school students Emily Erickson, Ashley Handy and Sarah Storm performed with the junior band and high school student Elizabeth Hice performed in the concert band.
The junior band and concert band worked with nationally recognized band directors Linda Gammon and Allen Hall. The symphonic band, the top ensemble in the district, worked with accomplished composer William Owens; high school students Ireland Seagle, Stone Tucker and Thomas Watson performed with the Symphonic Band.
“I think my favorite part of District Band was the wide assortment of music that we performed. The pieces ranged from fast-paced marches to slower, more refined selections. I also enjoyed being around so many other talented musicians that inspired me to better my playing ability,” said Stone Tucker.
“The opportunity to make music with other accomplished students provided a memorable and educational musical experience for all students involved,” Fuqua School stated.
