Jackson Eli Hewitt, age 4, died on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Augusta Health Center in Fishersville. He has returned to his heavenly home after bravely battling several health conditions since infancy.

Jackson was born the son of Christopher S. and Rachel A.(Davis) Hewitt on February 23, 2011. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his little brother and his best buddy, Harrison “Harry” Hewitt. Jackson is also survived by paternal grandparents, Richard Carter Jr. “Grandpop” and Susan Carter “Nanny” of Stuarts Draft; maternal grandparents, Jack  “Poppy” and Janet “Bebe” Davis of Keysville; aunts and uncles Kristen Carter,  Patrick Hewitt, Jaclyn (Davis) Blair, and Jacob Blair; and maternal great grandmother, Ora Ellen Slezack.

Jackson had the most beautiful blue and dreamy eyes. Although Jackson endured a lot of medical problems while on this earth, when he felt well he was full of life. He was a very kind and sensitive, compassionate boy. Four years was not enough time for Jackson to share all the love and compassion in his heart. He enjoyed playing with his brother every day, building Legos with his daddy, snuggling with mommy on the couch, seeing his friends at church and at school. Jackson enjoyed playing at the playground and going to the beach. He loved fire trucks, tractors and any kind of construction vehicles, especially frontend loaders. Jackson talked of Heaven frequently and how he couldn’t wait to meet Jesus and the angels. He has finally gotten his wings he has talked about.

The family would like to thank all of the physicians who took care of Jackson: Peter DeVries, Stephen Borowitz, Monica Lawrence & many others, who made his time here on Earth a little easier. Thank you to his teachers at Calvary Weekday School-Mrs. Robb, Mrs. Josefson, and Mrs. Farris for allowing him to feel safe and have a carefree learning time with new friends. We are also thankful for his church family at Waynesboro Church of Christ who loved him deeply and prayed for him always.

With Jackson’s passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we miss him immensely, we are thankful God allowed us to be his parents for almost 5 years. We are thankful he is no longer in pain and can run and play freely as a 4 year old should. We miss you Jackson, with all our hearts, and you will never be forgotten. We long for the day we will see you in Heaven. Come, Lord Jesus, come!

A celebration of life was held 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Waynesboro Church of Christ, 227 Bookerdale Rd, Waynesboro, VA 22980 with Minister Michael Jones officiating.  The family received friends one hour prior to the services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
