Thelma Reamer Gard

Thelma Reamer Gard, age 79, of 790 King Street, Keysville, VA, born June 30, 1936, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016.

Thelma is survived by her former husband, Hester L. Townsend:  her children, Joy Barbour (John), Mike Townsend (Dawn), Kenny Townsend (Judy), and Belinda Hammock (Deanie Lee), eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronnie  (Elsie), Tony  (Susan); five sisters, Shirley, Patty (Larry), Ginny (Neal-deceased), Mary, and Connie (Johnny).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Gard; brothers, James Reamer, Ray Reamer, and an infant brother; her parents, Thomas Henry Reamer and Lillian Frances Wilmouth Reamer Hudson; and a son-in-law, Mark Hammock.

Thelma had worked at Sheldon’s in Keysville. Her many hobbies and interests included traveling, gardening, reading, shopping, playing bingo, bridge, canasta and rook, she was a former Red Hat Club member.  She loved her family and friends and loved to cook for them.  Thelma was an active member of Salem Christian Church.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, with graveside service to follow at Salem Christian Church Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. The family received friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, on Friday, February 5, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Salem Christian Church. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
