Eight musicians from Randolph-Henry High School and Central Middle School represented Charlotte County at the District III All-District Band Concert held at Powhatan High School on Saturday, Feb. 6. The event, sponsored by the Virginia Band & Orchestra Director’s Association (BODA), a unit of the Virginia Music Educator’s Association, was made up of almost 300 students from across the district. Derek Ramsey, Marching Statesmen director, and the regional representative for the BODA, introduced the symphonic band. Ramsey, who has directed the R-H band to many top ratings at competitions across the state, had a special announcement for three of his students. “I am pleased to announce that Victoria Ingersoll, Grace Freeman, and Hallie Watson, by virtue of their high placements in the All-District auditions, have been invited to audition for the All Virginia Band,” said Ramsey. “This audition will be held at James Madison University in Harrisonburg on Saturday, February 27.”
