Hilda Sledd Tignor

Sledd Tignor, Hilda, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord January 14, 2016, the 43rd anniversary of her 39th year. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Vassar Brehm.  She is survived by three daughters, Kim Jones, Eunice Morrison (John), and Mamie Sledd; two sons, Ken Sledd, Jr. (Lourie) and Philip Sledd; granddaughter, Janet Morrison; six grandsons, Michael, Jason and Kendall Jones, Pete Hanchey, Andrew and Justin Sledd; eight great-grandchildren; brother Raymond Foster, Jr. and his children, Steve Foster and Colleen Belvin; uncle, “brother” Barry Vassar; and devoted sweetheart, George Manley. Hilda was the founder and president of DPME, the first data processing employment agency in Richmond, established in 1966 and continued to be active until her death. During her lifetime she was active and involved in numerous organizations including, Richmond Chamber of Commerce, DPMA(AITP), Saints and Sinners, American Heart Association, Greater Richmond Retail Merchants Association and Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center at Richmond, to mention a few. She was an active member of Patterson Avenue Baptist Church. The family received friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Patterson Avenue Baptist Church, 4301 Patterson Avenue, where services were held 10 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016. Interment followed at 3 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte Court House, Va.  Memorial contributions may be made to Patterson Avenue Baptist Church or the Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center at Richmond.
