On Friday, Bacon District Elementary held its annual spelling bee contest. Fifth-grader Gabrielle Holcomb was announced the winner, and fourth-grader Kanye Dailey was declared first runner-up. Both contestants will represent Bacon District Elementary School in the county spelling bee, to be held at Central Middle School in January. All participating students in the Bacon Spelling Bee received a participation certificate.
