The Randolph-Henry High School Runnin’ Statesmen cross-country team traveled to Buckingham on Sept. 16 to race against JRD foes Buckingham, Cumberland and Bluestone.
The boys team continued its winning ways with another impressive effort. The team has won three consecutive meets and continue to gain confidence. Chris Nichols (first place), Nasheim Pettus (second place) and Michael Nichols (fourth place) continue to shine for R-H. But, the Runnin’ Statesmen were propelled to victory by the races of John Walker (sixth place), John Wendelin (seventh place), Bradford Webb (ninth place) and Peter Wendelin (tenth place).
The girls team got into the win column for the first time this season. The team was led by Adrianne Nelson (second place), Megan Garrett (fifth place) and Alena Latysheva (tenth place).
The Runnin’ Statesmen will be at home for their next meet on Wednesday. They will host Goochland, Bluestone and Prince Edward. This will be the final home meet for the R-H seniors and will be the best competition the teams have faced this season. Coach Jeff Williams and coach Dean Schwartz are extremely excited about the race.
