The tragedy of Sept 11, 2001 lives on today and WoodmenLife members continue to remember and pay respect each year. The Wylliesburg Chapter 179 of WoodmenLife have a service each year in remembrance of the 9/11 event. This year the Charlotte County Sheriff’s officers raised a new flag at the Wylliesburg Woodmen Hall at the annual Honor & Remembrance Service held on Sept 11. Approximately 75 people came out to pay honor and respect for the many victims and the families of the 9/11 tragedy. The singing of the National Anthem was led by Stacie Champion. Douglas Randolph, Sergeant Major US Army Retired, was the guest speaker for the night. The following units were in attendance: Bacon District, Charlotte Court House, Drakes Branch and Keysville Volunteer Fire Departments; Charlotte County Rescue Squad Stations #1 and #2; Chase City Rescue Squad; Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department and Drakes Branch Police Department. All received an American Flag for their support and service.
