Gazette Church and Community Calendar: week of May 1

The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Wednesday. Items must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Monday for that Wednesday’s calendar. Email events to CommunityCalendar@ TheCharlotteGazette.com. 

MAY 4 

GOSPEL MUSIC CONCERT — Staunton River Baptist Church, located at 2400 Ridgeway Road in Brookneal, will hold a gospel bluegrass concert featuring the group First Go Round on Saturday, May 4 to kickoff their spring revival. The event begins at 6 p.m. 

MAY 5 

PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY — First Baptist Church of Wylliesburg, located at 770 Moody Creek Road, will celebrate Pastor Opie Terrell’s 24th pastoral anniversary on May 5, beginning at 11:30 a.m. 

MAY 5-7 

COMMUNITY REVIVAL — Staunton River Baptist Church, located at 2400 Ridgeway Road in Brookneal, will hold a community revival from May 5 to May 7, with four churches participating. That group includes Mt. Carmel, Phenix, Staunton River and Roanoke Presbyterian. Pastor Rick Dellinger will preach on Sunday, with Pastor Herndon Jeffreys on Tuesday and Pastor Mike Teixeira on Tuesday. Services start at 7 p.m. 

MAY 7 

BLOOD DRIVE — Midway Baptist Church will hold a blood drive on Tuesday, May 7. The event will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

BEEKEEPERS MEETING — The Heart of Virginia Beekeepers will meet on Tuesday, May 7 at 7 p.m. in the Prince Edward County Extension Office. That’s located at 100 Dominion Drive in Farmville, near Lowe’s. Gardener and beekeeper Robin Simoni will speak on planting for honeybees. Anyone who has bees or is interested in bees is welcome. MAY 12 

WOMEN’S DAY — St. Level Baptist Church, located at 3 Highway 15 in Clarksville, will hold its Women/Mother’s Day service on Sunday, May 12, beginning at 11 a.m. Rev. Loretta W. Bailey, Pastor of St. Douglas Baptist Church in Charlotte Court House, will deliver the message. 

WOMEN’S DAY — Tabernacle Baptist Church in Drakes Branch will hold a Women’s Day on Sunday, May 12 at 2 p.m. A spotlight will be placed on ‘Dynamic Women in the Bible’. 

MAY 18 

WOMEN’S DAY — Shiloh Baptist Church will hold a Women’s Day service on Sunday, May 19, beginning at 2 p.m. Halifax County NAACP President Barbara Coleman-Brown will be the guest speaker. Shiloh is located at 125 Shiloh Church Road in Drakes Branch. 

UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE 

WEEKLY WORSHIP — Tabernacle Baptist Church will hold Sunday School every Sunday at 10 a.m. except 5th Sundays. Services start at 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Sunday of the month. 

WOMEN’S MINISTRY WORSHIP — A worship service with Confident Women Ministry is held every Sunday at 3 p.m. online via conference call. Services are led by Rev. Loretta Bailey and anyone is invited to call 1-657-390- 7012 to take part. 

ST. MICHAEL BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch holds worship services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays of each month Masks are required. The Rev. James E. Goode is the pastor.

SHILOH BAPTIST CHURCH — Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 125 Shiloh Church Road in Drakes Branch holds services every Sunday at 10 a.m. Rev. Dr. Horace B. Parham Jr. is the pastor. All are welcome. 

AMATEUR RADIO MEETING — The Charlotte County Amateur Radio Club meets the first Sunday of the month at 5104 Double Bridges Road in Meherrin. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Joe Reid at (808)-927-8910. 

ST. ANDREWS BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen holds worship services at 11 a.m. the first and third Sundays. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. the first, second, third and fourth Sundays. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney is the pastor. 

BEAUTIFUL PLAIN BAPTIST — Beautiful Plain Baptist Church holds services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House until further notice. 

HEBRON CHURCH — Hebron Church located at 111 Hebron Church Road in Saxe holds in-person services at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday. 

PHENIX UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Phenix United Methodist Church, 225 Church St., in Phenix worship service is at 9 a.m. each Sunday morning. There will be no Sunday school. 

MT. CARMEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1101 Mt. Carmel Road, in Brookneal worship service is at 11 a.m. each Sunday morning. There will be no Sunday school.
