Cullen dairy issues cheese products recall

Published 8:00 am Wednesday, February 7, 2024

Country Corner Dairy, LLC in Cullen has announced a recall of all cheese and skyr (kind of like yogurt) products sold between August 2, 2023, and January 24, 2024, with a batch/date stamp of 080223 through 012424.

This is because of a problem with pasteurization, which could have allowed harmful pathogens to survive in the products.

The affected products come in sizes of approximately 8 oz., 2.5 lb., 5 lb., and 40 lb. They were distributed at various locations, including Peacock Hill Dairy in Richmond County, Miller’s Country Store in Farmville, Pineview Bulk Food & Deli in Farmville, Spring Hollow Grocery in Buckingham County, Country Corner Dairy in Charlotte County, Cedar Grove Auction in Charlotte County, Hollering Hill Auction in Halifax County, and Central Virginia Produce Auction in Buckingham County.

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS) has stated that the recalled products include Cuajada Cheese, various flavored skyr such as Blueberry, Grape, Pineapple, Cherry, Raspberry, Strawberry and Vanilla, as well as several types of Cheddar and Colby cheeses, Monterey Jack Cheese, Marble Jack Cheese, Pepper Jack Cheese, Garlic and Chives Cheddar Cheese, Garlic and Dill Cheddar Cheese, and Smoked Cheddar Cheese.

If you have purchased any of these products with the specified batch/date stamp, you can return them to the place of purchase for an exchange or refund. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall, but it’s important not to consume these products, even if they appear fine.

If you have any questions about this recall, contact the company’s representative at (434) 547-0293.
