Marvin A. Trent died peacefully at his home in Clarksville on Sunday, May 7. He was born on Sept. 16, 1943 in Farmville, and grew up in his beloved Charlotte County. He was a 1965 graduate of Lynchburg College (now Lynchburg University). His first and only job was with Burlington Industries, from which he retired after 35 years.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Philip M. Trent and Carrie Lipscomb Trent.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Powell Trent; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Glass; stepson, Thomas Glass; sister, Carol T. Campbell; niece, Christal C. Hodge and nephew, Trent Campbell.
He was an Elder at Phenix Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday school for over 35 years. He retired from teaching as his struggle with Parkinson’s Disease progressed. He was patient and kind to all caregivers throughout his illness and never complained or asked “Why me?” The family wishes to thank all of the workers with Sentara Halifax Hospice for their abundant kindness and helpfulness during our time of need.
A memorial service will be held at Phenix Presbyterian Church, 200 Church Street, Phenix, VA 23959 on Friday, May 12 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P. O. Box 4777, New York, New York 10163-4777.
