The WordThere is such rejoicing and celebration in the weeks leading up to Easter. Then we hit our big Easter Day by enjoying church together with family and friends, special music, meals and many times, all-encompassing special quiet time. I mean, let’s face it, even Spring is a celebration of new life. So where do we go from here?

Looking in the Word, Matthew 28 tells us that Jesus charged the disciples with the great task of living their lives in such a way that as they went, they were able to reach people for Christ and teach people how to live for Christ. Luke 24 says that when Jesus departed, the disciples had great joy and were continually in the temple praising God. And Mark 16 tells us the disciples went out and began proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. Not to leave out that John 21 tells us that they were to be witnesses of everything they had experienced, until the day of Jesus Christ.

As Christ Followers we are never done with celebrating Jesus. As we journey through life it should be one continual celebration of the remarkable things he has done! It is true that life is hard, but do we realize how much harder it would be if we had not chosen Him? We could be coasting through life without meaning, purpose, fulfillment -without the greatness of God. We could be eternally separated from God without a hope in this world. Instead, we are bound for success, happiness, peace – able to do beyond what we could ever hope for or imagine. And when we see Jesus’ face to face, we will be with God for all eternity. We enjoy him now; we enjoy him on the journey, and we enjoy him for ever and ever.

May we take to heart this great celebration that we are able to experience every day of our lives. That joy that the disciples had as they returned to Jerusalem should be seen and heard within us as well. We should be in our churches and gathering places praising God. We should be proclaiming Gods goodness to everyone we meet. Once we were lost and now, we are found!

But I bet if we were to seek God in these matters, there would be much more we could be a witness to. “Then the Master Jesus, after briefing them, was taken up to heaven, and he sat down beside God in the place of honor. And the disciples went everywhere preaching, the Master working right with them, validating the Message with indisputable evidence.” (Mark 16:19,20)
