Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The WordTraveling this past week to Roxboro, North Carolina, I noticed how their springtime is in full swing. Their grass is very green and everything is in full bloom. Whereas we are still a little further north and have not quite crossed that threshold yet. But it is coming and what a welcomed sight.

Location has a true influence on our walk with the Lord. As Christ Followers we are told repeatedly about our path. The Word says, “Psalms 119:105. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Proverbs 3:6 – In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will direct thy paths. Matthew 7:13 – Enter you in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, which leads to destruction…”

As a Christ follower, we can see from the Word that God is specific about the path that we travel. Our location needs to be grounded within him otherwise we will be in a heap of trouble. But what does that path look like? Should we just stay in our comfortable churchy settings or are we liberated as we follow Christ?

It is very true that there is only one way to live in the sense: to love God and be committed to him. But living a Christian life is very active. “…I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full John 10:10” We are full when we know Jesus and lack nothing which gives us the freedom to participate in a world full of amazing people, majestic wonders, and lovely experiences. We can live an exciting life and still follow Christ. God created a world that we are to enjoy.

I think sometimes as Christ followers we forget that we can have fun, we can laugh, we can enjoy life: His creations- music, nature, people, art, food…! As Spring approaches, I want to encourage you to enjoy life through Jesus Christ. Share in what God is doing around you: smell the roses, see some old friends, make some new friends, take up a new hobby and while you go- remember Matthew 28:16-20.

We reach people for the Kingdom as we live our lives. Our location determines who we are sent to share the gospel with. It is a path that has Divine influence because God himself has put us right here. Let us expand our territory as we walk down our paths, as we experience life and as we enjoy all of God’s creations.
