Catherine Virginia Elam, age 75 of Brookneal, passed away on Dec. 22. She was the daughter of the late Phillip Elam and Matilda Fields Elam.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Rosa Pannell, Bertha Gaines, Thomas Elam, Carlthon Elam and Carl Elam.

She is survived by two sons, Rashaan Elam of Red House and Andre Elam of Brookneal; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Elam, Frances Townsend, and Iris Bates, all of Brookneal; one brother, Earl Elam; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel in Brookneal with interment at Ridgeway Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Brookneal.
