DECEMBER 1

BROOKNEAL CHRISTMAS PARADE — This year’s Brookneal Christmas parade will take place on Thursday, Dec. 1, beginning at 7 p.m. The parade will move through the downtown area.

FREE HOT CHOCOLATE — After the Brookneal Christmas parade is over, Brookneal Baptist Church invites everyone to visit them at 304 Wickliffe Road in Brookneal. There will be free hot chocolate and homemade cookies for everyone to enjoy.

DECEMBER 2

KEYSVILLE CHRISTMAS PARADE — The town of Keysville will hold its annual Christmas parade on Friday, Dec. 2. The event begins at 7 p.m. and will run through the downtown area.

DINNER AND BINGO FUNDRAISER — The “Christmas On The Main” dinner and bingo fundraiser will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3, beginning at 10 a.m. The event will be held at the Phenix Fire Department, with dinner plates at $10 each, featuring a variety of food like chicken, pig feet, yams, greens, mac and cheese, cakes and pies. The vendors’ sale starts at 1 p.m., bingo begins at 2:30 p.m., with a Christmas parade at 6 p.m. and lighting of the tree at 6:30 p.m. All sales will go to benefit the Central High Museum and the Barksdale Foundation. This is a rain or shine event.

DECEMBER 6

HEART OF VIRGINIA BEEKEEPERS — The Heart of Virginia Beekeepers group will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 6, beginning at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Prince Edward County Extension Office, located at 100 Dominion Drive in Farmville. During the meeting, the group will hold its annual Holiday Potluck Supper. The group will also hold elections and share information about the bee school. DECEMBER 18

BROOKNEAL CHILDREN’S PROGRAM — Brookneal Baptist Church, located at 304 Wickliffe Road, will host a children’s Christmas singing at the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Dec. 18. The event will feature members of TeamKids, Children’s Church, the preschoolers and all other children at the church.

CHRISTMAS CANTATA — Following the children’s program on Sunday, Dec. 18, Brookneal Baptist Church will hold a Christmas cantata. Their choir will perform “The Song of Bethlehem”, written by Lee Black.

JANUARY 14

BEEKEEPERS CONFERENCE — The first Heart of Virginia Beekeepers Conference will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Longwood University. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Blackwood Ballroom. Online registration is open at https://hovabeekeepers. wixsite.com/hovbconference.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY WORSHIP — A worship service with Confident Women Ministry is held every Sunday at 3 p.m. online via conference call. Services are led by Rev. Loretta Bailey and anyone is invited to call 1-657-390- 7012 to take part.

ST. MICHAEL BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch holds worship services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays of each month Masks are required. The Rev. James E. Goode is the pastor.

AMATEUR RADIO MEETING — The Charlotte County Amateur Radio Club meets the first Sunday of the month at 1426 Estes Road in Chase City. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Jason at (434) 944-9100.

ST. ANDREWS BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen holds worship services at 11 a.m. the first and third Sundays. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. the first, second, third and fourth Sundays. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney is the pastor.

BEAUTIFUL PLAIN BAPTIST — Beautiful Plain Baptist Church holds services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House until further notice.

HEBRON UNITED METHODIST — Hebron United Methodist Church in Saxe holds in-person services at 9:45 a.m. until further notice. Masks are required to attend.

PHENIX UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Phenix United Methodist Church, 225 Church St., in Phenix worship service is at 9 a.m. each Sunday morning. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.

MT. CARMEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1101 Mt. Carmel Road, in Brookneal worship service is at 11 a.m. each Sunday morning. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.
