Statesmen win on senior night

On Tuesday, May 10, the Randolph-Henry Statesmen Baseball team visited Bluestone High School to take on the Barons. Brayson Arrington took the mound for the Statesmen in his first start of the season. Brayson threw five clean innings with eight strikeouts and only allowing three hits. The Statesmen started things off in the top of the first inning by scoring two runs when Luke Skelton tripled after Ben Gibbs and Junior Powell singled. The Statesmen would add to their 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning by scoring 3 runs off of three hits. In the top of the fifth, the Statesmen would push away by scoring three more runs making the score 8-0. In the Statesmen final at bat, in the top of the sixth the Statesmen would score two more runs. Jett Algeier would enter the game on the mound in the bottom of the sixth to close things out. The Statesmen would win 10-0.

On Thursday, May 12, the Statesmen hosted the Dukes of Cumberland High School on Senior Night. The Statesmen honored Colton Pillow and Tucker Webb prior to first pitch. Tucker Webb would take the mound and earn the win for the Statesmen as he pitched four innings with 10 strikeouts and only giving up one hit. Webb would also homer in the bottom of the first. It would be all Statesmen on the scoreboard as the Statesmen would collect 18 hits on the night and win on senior night.

The Statesmen close the regular season out with two away games.

On Tuesday, May 17, the Statesmen will travel to Crewe to take on the Cougars of Nottoway High School and on Thursday, May 19, the Statesmen will travel to Farmville to take on the Eagles of Prince Edward County High School. These two games will have a huge impact on regional seedings. The Regional Playoff Schedule will be released this weekend.
