Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

We just had much needed rain last night and I am very thankful. At our house we just planted our annual pots and got flower color/nectar going to accommodate the yearly migration of the Hummingbirds. They are so beautiful, feisty and fun. However, it has been very dry. Even if we water the plants they do not do as well as when God waters them. Gods’ rain is simply better than any well or any irrigation system.

As Christ Followers we need to keep it real. We can do many things because God made us to “function.” We are created with everything we need to live productive lives. Only when we commit our ways to God is when we can become successful. We will always lack when we rely on anyone or anything else. The Word says, Unless the Lord builds a house, they who build it labor in vain; unless the Lord guards a city, the watchman stays awake in vain. (Psalm 127:1)

There is absolutely no substitute for God. He is the beginning and end of everything. There is not a person or a thing that can replace Him. We must focus our goals, our dreams, and our adventures on how they will glorify God. Too many times we use our efforts, our desires, our talents and our time to glorify ourselves or someone else, for that matter. But the natural things of this world will never satisfy the Spiritual.

As Christ Followers we are made for greatness. Greatness in Christ. Abraham knew this well, “And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:2). Galatians 2:20 as a Christ Follower, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

This week may we take time to not just “function” but to tap into eternal success. There are many things that we can do, will do, and have opportunities to do. Our greatest successes will never be through natural money, possessions, prestige…but success will manifest as our lives glorify God. “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (2 Corinthians 3:18)
