Mayo “Speedy” Reed Spencer Jr., 74 of Farmville, passed away on April 16, in Farmville. He was the son of the late Mayo Reed Spencer Sr. and Virginia Frances Reid Spencer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Joseph Spencer and his wife, Rosa Lee Spencer.

He is survived by three sons, David Walker of Charlotte Court House, Mayo Spencer III of Charlottesville and Troy Spencer of Charlotte Court House; one daughter, Sondra Gamble of Keysville; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; three brothers, William Spencer of Virginia Beach, Rev. James Spencer (Dovene) of Darlington Heights and Charles Spencer of Charlotte Court House; three sisters, Dorothy Vails of Richmond, Virginia Spencer of Charlotte Court House and Ann Spencer of Richmond; four uncles, Henry Reid (Jeri) of Charlotte Court House, Charles Hall (Betty) of Richmond, Joseph Hall (Dorothy) of Charlotte Court House and James Hall (Carrie) of Newark, New Jersey and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, April 23, at 11 a.m., at Union Cemetery in Charlotte Court House. Condolences may be expressed at www.JeffressFuneralHome.com.
