April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Randolph-Henry High School is working to increase awareness of activities which create dangerous situations behind the wheel for student drivers.

As the school gears up for prom later this month, students have been leading the charge with seatbelt checks in the morning, door decorating contests and other interactive activities sponsored by YOVASO (Youth Speak Out About Traffic Safety).

On April 15, Randolph-Henry High School students were able to participate in a distracted driving simulation in conjunction with the Virginia State Police.

Students were able to see just how easy it is to suffer consequences from risky behaviors and distracted driving.

Students also visited the scene of a car crash on the front lawn of the school. Here students were given devices with barcodes so that they could watch video situations that resulted from bad decisions behind the wheel.

Students were extremely engaged in these activities and were eager to participate and learn more about driver safety.

Our Arrive Alive Campaign and After Prom Party are being led by teachers Megan Devin Martinez, Sherri Pillow and other Sophomore sponsors.
