On Saturday, April 2, The Historic Overton-Hillsman House will hold a day of demonstrations as the park’s reenactors bring history alive. This year marks the 157th anniversary of the skirmishes that took place at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield State Park.

Beginning at 9 a.m. authentically dressed living historians will be on-site to help visitors get a glimpse of what life was like in the military and on the homefront during the battles that raged along the banks of Little Sailor’s Creek. Park ranger led house tours will be available, medical displays, campaign cooking and much more. At 6 p.m. visitors are invited on the lawn of the Hillsman House for an evening musical concert featuring Harken Back String Band as they entertain the audience with the melodies of days past.

This entire event is free, family-friendly and leashed-pet friendly. Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn or camping chair with them and to pack a picnic. Parking and restroom facilities will be available on-site.
