Louis William Tatum, 92, of Mechanicsville, passed on Feb. 26, at McGuire Medical Center in Richmond.
Mr. Tatum was born on Sept. 7, 1929, in Virginia, to the late Willie Edward Tatum and Sarah Foster Tatum.
Mr. Tatum worked at Parker Oil Company for many years before retirement and bravely served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Tatum is survived by his wife of 71 years, Virginia E. Tatum; daughter, Doris Tatum Belton; granddaughters, Sherry Steadman of South Carolina and Wendalyn Belton-Brown of Richmond and great-grandchildren, Michael, Johnathan, Caleb and Lexie. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held on Tuesday, March 1, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Browning- Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville. The funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, March 2, at the Browning- Duffer Funeral Home with Reverend Dewey Barker officiating. Interment followed in the Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery in Keysville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital or the American Diabetes Association.
