Charlotte County Public School (CCPS) Superintendent Robbie Mason announced Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 18 that students would return to virtual learning due to staffing issues. 

According to Mason CCPS currently has 23 instructional staff members and numerous students who have either tested positive for COVID, are symptomatic and awaiting test results, or are quarantining because of COVID exposures. 

Due to this staff shortage, teachers are unable to provide adequate coverage for our classrooms and other instructional areas. 

Mason said, as a result, CCPS will shift to remote instruction on Thursday, Jan. 20 and Friday, Jan 21 Teachers will be updating lessons through Google Classroom or Canvas and those lessons should be ready for student access by noon on Thursday. 

“Keep in mind that some teachers will not be able to prepare lessons due to personal illness resulting from COVID,” Mason said.  

Staff will be available in each school to assist with any issues that may occur during these two days of remote instruction and parents should call the school if they have questions. 

Meals will be available for pickup outside each elementary school and at Central Middle School on Thursday and Friday from noon to 2 p.m.
