The Danville Symphony Orchestra selected South Boston for its Sunday, Dec. 12 “Home for the Holidays” concert because of the excellent facilities at The Prizery.

“It is a hidden jewel and such a neat venue,” says Desiree Shaffer, symphony president. “The stage is great, the acoustics are amazing, and the seats are good no matter where you sit.”

The concert, starting at 5 p.m., will include music from “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Frozen “and “The Nutcracker” plus familiar carols. A narrator, “Santa’s Sister,” will tell the story of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” with music. Santa Claus is also expected to visit.

In its 30 th season, the symphony is conducted by Peter Perret, who is in his 11th year with the organization. He is the former music director of the Winston-Salem Symphony and former conductor at the Buffalo Philharmonic.
