Evelyn Royster Jones, 98 of Chase City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11. She was born Feb. 22, 1923 in Sudan and was the daughter of the late William Royster and the late Lonie Sizemore Royster. She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church in Chase City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chrispen Leo Jones; her daughter, Jackie Kizer; brother, Thomas Royster and sisters, Marguerite Muse and Edna Poythress.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her children, Louise J. Skelton (Charlie) of Saxe, Wanda J. Chandler of Chase City and Chris Jones (Jackie) of Chase City; grandchildren, Renee Jackson (Michael), C.H. Skelton, Jamie Skelton, Keith Skelton (Holly), Jennifer Brankley (Eric), T.J. Nichols (Deanna), Joseph Nichols (Tiffany) and Dakota Jones (Emily); great-grandchildren, Tabitha and Travis Jackson, Connor Lacks, Laci Skelton, Kailey Skelton, Savannah Hylton, Luke Skelton, Max Skelton, Sydney Smith (Kristopher), Skylar Stevens, R.J., Dillon and Dalton Nichols, Hailey, Dawsen and Kaesyn Nichols and great-great-grandchildren, Sierra Lacks, Kinley Jackson, Dalton Lacks and Kizer Smith. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment followed in the Woodland Mausoleum in Chase City. The family received family and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
