With the June 8 deadline to file now passed, Charlotte County voters will see several local seats and new names on the November election ballot.

According to Eric Goode, interim general registrar, the county will have three Board of Supervisors seats up for election this year, including the districts of Red Oak/Wylliesburg, Keysville, and Phenix/Aspen.

In the Keysville District incumbent, R.L. “Butch” Shook Jr. is running unopposed.

Red Oak/Wylliesburg, voters will have the opportunity to choose between two newcomers  Larry Newcomb and Hazel Bowman Smith have both filed for the seat. The Red Oak/Wylliesburg seat is currently held by Kay Pierantoni who announced earlier this year she would not seek re-election after one term.

In the Phenix/Aspen District incumbent, Donna Fore will have opposition as Walter Bailey has filed to run.

The Charlotte County School Board also has several offices up for election this November, including seats in the districts of Red Oak/Wylliesburg, Keysville and Phenix/Aspen.

For the County Seat District, E. Ennis Jones, and Carmalita G. Escoto are seeking a seat on the board.

This election is to fill the unexpired term that was held by Angela Cook.

Cook resigned in 2020, and Escoto was appointed to fill her position.

In the Phenix/Aspen District seat, voters will see Elise A. Green and incumbent Robert “Bobby” Johnson on the ballot.

Voters in the Red Oak/Wylliesburg and Keysville District will see no change as incumbents Teresa T. Dunaway and R.B. “Jay” George are seeking re-election without opposition.
