Martha Mills Tubbs, 92, passed away peacefully on Dec. 15. She is survived by her son, Kelly Tubbs, of Powhatan, by a brother, Dr. Watson E. Mills, of Sharpsburg, Georgia and by several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Phillip D. Tubbs, by her parents, Martha Selma Watson and James Claiborne Mills, by a sister, Mary Mills Flournoy and by a brother, James Claiborne Mills, Jr. all of Richmond. Soon after America entered WWII, the family settled in Richmond where she spent the remainder of her life, graduating with honors from John Marshall High School. She served for many years as a volunteer nurse at the Johnston-Willis Hospital. A graveside service was held at the Cullen Baptist Church on Dec. 19. A memorial service will be held later in the spring of 2021.
