Just a few weeks ago the Charlotte County Christmas Parents organization was feeling the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and concerned that many underprivilege children would go without this holiday season.

That has changed.

“There’s so much for which to be thankful,” member Kay Pierantoni said. “So many children will have a brighter Christmas because of the combined efforts of so many.”

From donations of toys and funds from both individuals and businesses, the organization will be able to make the holiday season a little brighter for close to 200 children.

Currently, the distribution date for toys will be Saturday, Dec. 19, at Bacon District Volunteer Fire Department. Pierantoni said parents would be notified of further details by text or phone call.

Toys are still being collected at several locations in the county, including the Dollar General stores in Drakes Branch, Wylliesburg, Keysville, Charlotte Court House, and Phenix; Cruis In Diner in Keysville, Morgan Lumber Company, and at several churches.

Monetary donations may be sent to Charlotte County Christmas Parents, P.O. Box 73, Wylliesburg, VA 23976.

“We will be glad to acknowledge their gift in “memory of” or “In Honor of” whomever they wish,” Pierantoni said. “If they prefer to remain anonymous, we will honor that request.”
