After serving as the clerk for the Town of Phenix, Brenda Driskill is retiring.
“I have enjoyed working as the town clerk, especially since I only have to drive four miles to work,” Driskill said.
Driskill said she decided it was time to spend more time with her family, especially her grandchildren. “Time is short on this earth, and I want time to enjoy life to its fullest,” Driskill said.
Before joining the Town of Phenix, Driskill served the public by working for the Halifax County Administration Office for 10 years. She has been with the Town of Phenix for two years.
Driskill, who has lived in the area for most of her life, said she has a love for the Town of Phenix and its people.
“A lot of the citizens here in town have said that they are sorry to see me go, and I appreciate that from the bottom of my heart,” she said. I will miss the people the most. I will miss the job itself too because it kept my mind alert, and I enjoyed what I did. But retirement right now sounds good to me.”
