Bear hit by two vehicles

A bear was struck by two vehicles Wednesday night, April 29 in the Scottsburg area.

According to the Virginia State Police (VSP) a female juvenile was operating a 2013 Nissan Altima around 10 p.m. when she struck a bear that was in the road on James D. Hagood Highway, one mile west of Patrick Sims Drive.

Tyler Stanley, 25, of South Boston was operating a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab driving behind the Altima and struck the bear, as well.

According to VSP the juvenile sustained minor injuries. Stanley was not injured in the accident.

No charges were filed in the incident.
