Two injured in accident

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is investigating a four-wheeler accident that sent two young women to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to VSP Trooper Meeks, the accident occurred Tuesday, April 21, around 11:48 a.m. just off of Barnesville Highway on private property half a mile south of route 610 in the Red Oak area.

The driver of the 2018 Can-Am four-wheeler, Dashawna Clark, 20, and her passenger 21-year-old Shawna Clark were looking for a lost dog when the four-wheeler struck a ditch filled with water causing Shawna Clark to be thrown off.

According to Meeks, Shawna Clark was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital. DaShawna Clark was transported by the rescue squad to a nearby hospital.
