A Danville man has been charged with DUI manslaughter following a fatal wreck on Route 360 in Charlotte County.

According to a release from Virginia State Police (VSP), Tommy Marshall Williams, 38, was arrested Thursday, April 16, on one count of DUI-manslaughter, two counts of DUI-maiming and one felony count of driving on a revoked license due to a prior DUI.

Williams is currently being held in the Charlotte County Jail without bond.

On April 4 at 1:05 a.m. a single-vehicle crash occurred on Route 360, less than a mile west of Route 710.

According to VSP, Williams was driving a 2006 Toyota Camry west on Route 360 at a high rate of speed when it ran off the left side of the road. The driver over-corrected, which caused the car to run off the right side of the road, strike an embankment and overturn.

Sean Blake Jackson Thompson, 25, of South Hill, a passenger in the vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Thompson died at the scene.

Two female passengers were flown to VCU Medical Center in Richmond for treatment of serious injuries. One female has been treated and released. The other female is still being treated at VCU Medical Center.

Williams suffered minor injuries in the crash and was treated and released from Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
