SVCC earns weekend split

Despite a slow start to the season, the young Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) men’s basketball team earned a split over the weekend after topping Stillwater Christian 94-74 on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 12. The win improved the Panthers to 3-6 on the season. Marquise Petty led six SVCC players in double figures with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Ricardo Sullivan scored 15 points and added four rebounds. T.J. House finished with 15 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds while Tae Holmes scored 12 points and added 11 rebounds. Khalil Moore finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Aaron Logan added 10 points and nine rebounds. The Panthers dropped an 87-83 decision to visiting Bryant & Stratton MIT on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 11, despite a big second-half comeback. Logan led SVCC with 23 points and eight rebounds.
