When the voters of the Bacon/Saxe District went to the polls in November, they chose to send Will Garnett to represent them on the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors.

Garnett won the seat against Shane Newcombe.

In an interview with The Charlotte Gazette, Garnett said that he wanted to make a  difference in his county, and although this is his first political position, he will not make decisions quickly “I will not make my decisions in haste but in a methodical way,” said Garnett. “We really need to think about how our decisions affect the citizens.”

The new supervisor also said that he feels that more transparency is needed, and he does not plan to sit on the sidelines. “I want to look at the end of my four-year term and think that I made a positive difference,” Garnett added.

Working as an accountant for the past seven years, Garnett says he plans to take that knowledge and apply it in the position.

In addition to serving his community as a supervisor, Garnett has been a member of the Charlotte Court House Volunteer Fire & Rescue for 15 years and a member of the Drakes Branch Fire Department for 12 years.
