Anyone who has attended Madisonville School is welcome to come to a reunion at Madisonville Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 12:30 p.m. Those attending will be asked to donate for fried chicken, bread and beverage and to bring a side dish to share. After lunch, there will be a brief historical summary of the school, a time for sharing recollections and renewing old acquaintances, and for sharing artifacts, old photos, etc. that people are encouraged to bring. The church has handicapped parking and facilities. Interested family members or friends are welcome to attend as well. Those planning to attend should respond by calling (434) 547-7221 or (434) 315-4344 before Thanksgiving Day so that adequate preparations may be made.

Madisonville School was erected early in the last century and for many years housed students in grades one through high school. When Randolph-Henry High School opened in 1940, Madisonville School continued, but housed only elementary students. The school closed in 1959 when the elementary schools at Aspen, Phenix and Madisonville combined at the then new Phenix Elementary School. Those who attended Madisonville School have lots of interesting stories about the old days and will certainly acquire more at this event.
