Charlotte County Emergency Services Coordinator Garland H. Hamlett Jr. has issued an open-air burn ban, effective Sept. 26 for Charlotte County.

Due to dangerously dry conditions that will cause rapid fire spread, any open-air fires in Charlotte County will be unlawful.

Open burning or open-air burning means any fire or burning practice that is conducted outside a building and includes, but is not limited to, small confined fires and large confined fires — bonfires, fires in burn barrels, outdoor recreational fireplaces, burning leaves, brush, etc.
